Akiko Baba
(born January 28, 1928 in Tokyo, Japan) is a Japanese tanka poet and literary critic.
She also has an interest in Noh drama, and her works have been performed at the National Theatre of Japan.〔 J. Thomas Rimer : (''The Columbia Anthology of Modern Japanese Literature'' ), Columbia University Press, 2011, ISBN 9780231157230, S. 686〕 ''Heavenly Maiden Tanka'' is a collection of her poems translated by Hatsue Kawamura and Jane Reichhold.
She has won a number of prizes, including the Yomiuri Prize and the Asahi Prize.
